چکیده

We investigate spin coherence time of electrons bound to phosphorus donors in silicon single crystals, employing a pulsed electron paramagnetic resonance technique. The samples were isotopically controlled so that they may possess different concentrations (about 5% and 100%) of 29Si, which is the only non-zero-spin (spin-1/2) stable isotope of Si. Both 29Siconcentration dependence and orientation dependence of the electron spin coherence time demonstrate that the decoherence is caused by spectral diffusion due to mutual flip-flops of the environmental nuclear spins. The detail analysis of spin echo decay curves enables the unique assignment of the host sites responsible for electron spin echo envelope modulation.

Spin blockade and exchange in Coulomb-confined silicon double quantum dots.

Electron spins confined to phosphorus donors in silicon are promising candidates as qubits because of their long coherence times, exceeding seconds in isotopically purified bulk silicon. With the recent demonstrations of initialization, readout and coherent manipulation of individual donor electron spins, the next challenge towards the realization of a Si:P donor-based quantum computer is the d...

Nuclear spins of ionized phosphorus donors in silicon.

We demonstrate the coherent control and electrical readout of ionized phosphorus donor nuclear spins in (nat)Si. By combining time-programed optical excitation with coherent electron spin manipulation, we selectively ionize the donors depending on their nuclear spin state, exploiting a spin-dependent recombination process at the Si/SiO(2) interface, and find a nuclear spin coherence time of 18 ...

Electron Spin Coherence of Shallow Donors in Natural and Isotopically Enriched Germanium.

Germanium is a widely used material for electronic and optoelectronic devices and recently it has become an important material for spintronics and quantum computing applications. Donor spins in silicon have been shown to support very long coherence times (T_{2}) when the host material is isotopically enriched to remove any magnetic nuclei. Germanium also has nonmagnetic isotopes so it is expect...

Electron spin coherence and electron nuclear double resonance of Bi donors in natural Si.

Donors in silicon hold considerable promise for emerging quantum technologies, due to their uniquely long electron spin coherence times. Bismuth donors in silicon differ from more widely studied group V donors, such as phosphorous, in several significant respects: They have the strongest binding energy (70.98 meV), a large nuclear spin (I=9/2), and a strong hyperfine coupling constant (A=1475.4...

Hyperfine structure of the electron spin resonance of phosphorus-doped Si nanocrystals.

Electronic states of P donors in Si nanocrystals (nc-Si) embedded in insulating glass matrices have been studied by electron spin resonance. Doping of P donors into nc-Si was demonstrated by the observation of optical absorption in the infrared region due to intraconduction band transitions. P hyperfine structure (hfs) was successfully observed at low temperatures. The observed splitting of the...
